- Lucky Mutts : Austin, Texas
- Lucky Mutts is a non profit organization with the foremost goal of being a premier canine advocacy group in the Austin and surrounding areas. The group realizes that rescuing single dogs will never make an impact on the plight of the species as a whole. To reduce the number of abandoned and unwanted animals, Lucky Mutts strives to educate the public about responsible dog ownership.
- Dogs are not euthanized because they are "hard to adopt".
- Dogs are never returned to the shelter.
- They work with local trainers and behaviorists to help make each one of their lucky mutts a well behaved, happy and healthy friend for life.
- They make a commitment to find a good home for each dog that finds it's way to them.
- They take the time to work with each animal to learn their quirks, personality and training needs.
- They do not do same day adoptions and each animal gets to stay in a foster home until they feel they are ready for adoption.

Animal Rescue is an effort to which I devote a great deal of time and energy, especially since my little muses (4 dogs, 4 ferrets) were all rescued from various circumstances. A portion of each commission I recieve from a painting goes to support an animal rescue organization. |
